British Airways Avios points don't have a single set value — what they're worth depends entirely on how you redeem them. They stretch furthest on Business & First — Partner Airlines at 3.5¢ per point, and as little as 0.6¢ when used for Hotels, Shopping & Non-Flight. All 5 redemption options are broken down below.
Value per point varies by how you redeem. Best-value options first.
British Airways Avios (the British Airways Club) is a oneworld currency you reach by transferring 1:1 from Amex Membership Rewards or RBC Avion. Its strength for Canadians is short-haul oneworld hops — Avios uses distance-based pricing, so short flights are cheap — and off-peak long-haul business or first on partners like Qatar Airways and Japan Airlines. The big catch: awards on British Airways' own metal carry $500+ in fuel surcharges from Canada, so partner redemptions are almost always the better play (for long-haul business out of Canada, Aeroplan often beats Avios outright). Non-flight uses like hotels and shopping are poor value.
