About this program
Amex Membership Rewards is the most flexible points currency in Canada. MR transfers to 8 partners — covering all three major airline alliances (Star, SkyTeam, oneworld) at a 1:1 ratio, plus two hotel programs. No other Canadian rewards currency offers cross-alliance reach at 1:1.

Good to know
Minimum transfer is 1,000 points, in 100-point increments. No transfer fee in Canada.
Flying Blue improved from 1:0.75 to 1:1 in January 2026 — three of the six airline partners now transfer at a flat 1:1.
Transfer times vary: Aeroplan, Flying Blue, and Avios are typically near-instant; Delta and Cathay take a few hours to two days; Etihad can take up to ten days.
Hotel transfers (Hilton, Marriott Bonvoy) are usually poor value compared to airline transfers — listed for completeness, not as a recommended use.
Transfer bonuses are uncommon for Aeroplan (only two promotions in the past five years), so don’t plan around them.
